...of The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show. After the segment ended I ran into the bedroom I shared with my brother and rifled through all of his records. There among a variety of Jazz, Big Band and Ray Charles records were several Beatles records and some of their solo albums. I was in heaven and my great obsession began with The Beatles and becoming a musician.
My Mom bought me my first guitar when I was in eighth grade. It was a Hondo II six string acoustic. I took lessons until I was 16. Once I got to High School I decided that I had enough of guitar lessons and decided to teach myself. After thirty years of playing by ear and I am beginning to look like Van gogh after he cut off his ear. That's the price you pay!
Music has always been a sanctuary for me. It's a place I can escape from everything and not have to go to rehab afterwards. Unless, of course, I am escaping with other musicians who happen to be dealing in illegal drugs. Well, that's an entirely different story.
